Damon and I spent New Years Eve in Durham, NC watching a Duke basketball game. Duke has always been Damon's favorite basketball team, so for Christmas this year I got him tickets to see a game. He had never been to Cameron Indoor Stadium or the Duke campus, so needless to say he was just a little excited. But before we could get to the game, we had to "secure" tickets. I ordered our tickets online and had them mailed to our house. After a few days of not seeing the tickets, I asked Damon if he had seen a Fed-Ex envelope. He said, "oh yeah, it came a few days ago". Well here is the problem, I never saw the envelope and I did some major cleaning of our house that weekend and took a ton of trash and boxes out to the curb for the garbage man. I'm guessing that I must have picked up the envelope with tickets while taking out the trash!! :( The tickets were non-refundable and there was no way of re-printing them, but luckily Stubhub was able to issue us a once in a lifetime refund so we could re-purchase another set of tickets. This time, I had the envelope mailed to a co-worker so I wouldn't chance losing them again. Well, I was wrong. I tried multitasking one night while attempting to wrap up the tickets to put them under the tree when I realized that I had actually forgot to take them out of the Fed-Ex envelope that I had just thrown away. No worries though - I realized this before the garbage went out! So Damon opened his gift on Christmas and was very, very excited.
The game was just amazing. Seeing Cameron Indoor Stadium, which is relatively small for a college arena, was really cool. We had tickets on the baseline under the basket, so we had great seats and could see the players up close. Duke played University of Pennsylvania which wasn't much of game since Duke won 114-55, but we enjoyed every minute of it. Damon had a smile on his face the entire game, and I'd have to say that Duke game was my favorite live sporting event I've been to, beating out a pro football, basketball, and baseball game.
